Golden Rule provides janitorial services to over a dozen contracts in Northeastern Oklahoma including state and federal agencies, as well as privately owned businesses. Our teams clean over one million square feet of space each work day. Our janitorial contracts provide jobs across 5 counties for adults with disabilities.
Golden Rule accepts non-working or out-of-date electronics and appliances for our e-cycle program. These items are taken apart by a group of Working Partners who then separate the parts into what can be reused and what can be recycled. Working Partners also sort the non-reusable recyclables and work with Job Coaches to take these items to appropriate recycle centers.
E-cycle items include anything that takes a battery or plugs in. This includes but is not limited to large appliances (washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.), small appliances (toasters, mixers, irons, etc.), radios, vacuum cleaners, flat screen TVs and light fixtures. We aren’t able to take non-working appliances with freon/coolant, tube tvs, or batteries.
Though Golden Rule does not have an on-site recycling center, we accept limited recyclables at our stores and our corporate office. These recyclables are processed by Working Partners. We reuse items that are needed at Golden Rule and deliver the other recyclables to designated recycle centers in the area.
Golden Rule gladly accepts the following items for recycle: scrap metal, aluminum cans, broken or unwanted appliances and electronics, newspaper, packing materials and cardboard boxes.
Many of our Working Partners enjoy operating our shredding machines, providing a valuable service to the community while building job skills and confidence. Golden Rule offers secure document shredding to the public at a cost per legal-size box, helping individuals and businesses safely dispose of sensitive paperwork. All materials are responsibly recycled, making our shredding service both environmentally friendly and socially impactful.
Golden Rule formed a partnership with Griffin Food Co. for the purpose of distributing Griffin’s pancake syrup to government agencies through the AbilityOne program. As of May 30, 2023, GRI is the only qualified provider of gallon sized pancake syrup to the US DoD under this agreement. GRI will continue to pursue additional opportunities to add other sized containers and for other government agencies. This affords GRI with 4 new jobs for GRI working partners that will provide direct labor for this opportunity. GRI is always looking to expand and provide more jobs for PBSD.
